Do wild animals have names?
Most animals probably have no concept of names, however some more complex animals do seem to understand the concept. Dolphins for example use something called a "signature whistle" which is unique to each dolphin and may function like a name.
Once thought of as a uniquely human trait, research now suggests that other social species also dish out and respond to names. Green-rumped parrot parents give their chicks a 'signature call' or 'name', which is learned in the nest.
Some scientists worry that giving human names to wild animals leads to anthropomorphizing and can carry associations for the researchers that could trigger bias.

Feral dogs differ from other dogs because they did not have close human contact early in their lives (socialization). Feral dogs live in a wild state with no food and shelter intentionally provided by humans and show a continuous and strong avoidance of direct human contact.
